How I work
There is a lot of misconception about hypnosis and hypnotherapy. Different schools of thought can be significantly different.
This isn’t helped by the fact that our exposure to hypnosis will likely be from Stage hypnosis and television shows. These shows are put together with the aim of entertaining, leading us to think that people are under some kind of spell or mind control.
Let’s face it, if this were the case there are probably enough hypnotists around that we could have taken over the world by now!
So just what is it?
Hypnosis is a very specific mindset which when engaged with makes use of naturally occurring everyday psychological and physiological experiences.
For example, have you ever been watching a movie and been so engrossed that you become unaware of what is going on around you?
Recall, if you can, a time when you have been so immersed in reading a good book that you have literally entered that imaginary world and been swept along with the characters.
This level of absorption in your thoughts is a natural occurrence.
When you are invested in your imagination to that level, thoughts and feelings are amplified.
When this is applied therapeutically in hypnotherapy I will guide you to deliberately focus your attention on positive suggestion. I use this alongside practical psychological therapeutic interventions tailored to your desired outcomes.
Hypnosis is not something which is done to you; It is something which is done with you and requires your commitment to the process.
Evidence suggests that the more you are able to invest in your imagination and apply yourself fully to the ideas and suggestions being offered to you, the greater the results you can expect to achieve.
This will serve you well not only for the work that we do together but will also empower you with new skills and a robust self-reliance as you move forward.

Such regulatory bodies include:
The National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH)
The Complementary Natural and Healthcare Council (CNCH)
The Professional Hypnotherapy Network (PHN)
In theory, everybody can be hypnotised. For hypnotherapy to be as effective as it will be, you must “want” to accept the ideas and suggestions being offered to you and engage your imagination to fully experience the effect of those ideas.
The more you are able to invest in your imagination the greater the benefits you can expect to experience.
